Following the apparent suicide of fashion designer L’Wren Scott in New York City Monday, the twittersphere lit up with tributes from actors, designers, and others who were touched by Mick Jagger‘s late girlfriend.
Claus Hjelmbak, a the globe-trotting celebrity deal maker, spoke exclusively to gossipdavid.com, about the loss of Scott, a Utah-born former model, with whom he worked and socialized with.
“I met L’wren Scott 20 years ago, and I actually stayed over at her house from time to time when I was dating [make-up artist] Stephane Marais,” he says.
“I remember L’Wren as this generous, loving, fun woman. I also remember BBQs at her house before she met Mick Jagger. It was clear that the celebrities were not just her clients. We would all hang out and have a blast at L’Wren’s house in Beachwood canyon. And I’m talking the biggest stars, but I will not mention names out of respect to L’wren
He adds, “She made everyone around her feel special and worthy, whether it was the maid, the garbageman or a Hollywood superstar. She had this magical personality and warmth. I always saw L’Wren as this super strong ambitious woman. I always called her ‘the Madonna of stylist/designers,’ because of how strong and independent she was.”
Says Hjelmbak: “With L’Wren there was never any coincidences, everything was always done to perfection. Flawless.”
As for dating Jagger, he says, “I remember when she had met Mick, she was giddy as a school girl. She was really in love with him: not the celebrity Mick, but the person. L’Wren didn’t need anyone to be a star. She was already a star in her own respect. She will be greatly missed by everyone.”
