Jersey Shore star-turned-mogul Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi co-hosted Anderson Live Thursday in NYC, and in exclusive backstage interview with gossipdavid.com — the show’s Celeb Blogger Of The Day — she opened up about visiting her beloved Seaside Heights, which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
She and the rest of the Jersey Shore cast will be part of Thursday night’s “Restore The Shore” fundraising special, airing at 11 p.m. on MTV. Snooki tells gossipdavid.com it was heart-wrenching visiting the beachside community after the devastation. “It was definitely sad,” she says. “I cried [while touring the area] and then I left and cried. I felt so guilty that some people don’t have homes, so I’m really glad we’re doing the telethon.”
She says seeing the superstorm’s destruction on TV didn’t prepare her for being there in person. “I saw it on TV, but it’s different when you see it right in front of you. It’s really sad.”
A resident of New Jersey herself, Snooki was affected by power outages, but her home remained intact. “In our area, everyone was out of power for a week. I stayed three nights, and then was like, ‘I need to get out of here, because it was getting cold. We need heat and power,” she says, adding it was a challenging situation, particularly with baby Lorenzo “So we went to my mom’s house. My mom loves everytime we come. She’s obsessed with him. She’s amazing. I’m her only child, so he’s her only grandchild!”
But Snooki doesn’t turn to her mom to help out with diaper changes: “I love changing diapers,” she says. “Usually she’ll help me out if I need sleep, and I’ll take a good power nap!”
