Jimmy Fallon is in talks to host the 85th Academy Awards, with Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels as producer, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Although a spokeswoman for the academy denies that talks with Jimmy are taking place, the report says ABC has raised objections to having Jimmy — whose late night show is on NBC — and Lorne — who show is also on NBC — have such roles with the Oscars, but the network has no authority to veto the choices.
Typically, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences chooses the producer and the producer, in turn, chooses the host.
