Katie Holmes turned to her family in Toledo, Ohio, to team up and launch divorce proceedings against Tom Cruise.
Katie’s devout Catholic parents, lawyer Martin and homemaker Kathleen, “wanted old Katie back,” so they were eager to support their daughter in ending her marriage to Tom, according to the new issue of People.
In fact, Katie didn’t turn to a Hollywood powerhouse lawyer to launch the divorce, instead employing her father, who secretly flew to New York to assist his daughter in ending the union he never supported.
But the final decision was all hers. “She’s a strong person and makes up her own mind,” says a source. As for her decision to end the marriage, “she’s unwavering.”
