Richard Branson‘s trifecta of airlines — Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia — are branching out…into filmmaking!
The air carriers recently took to the skies to shoot the first-ever movie filmed entirely at 35,000 feet — and they did it over three continents in nine days!
The film is a love story called Departure Date — starring Mad Men‘s Ben Feldman and Australian actress Nicky Whelan (above), along with cameos by Janeane Garofalo and Luis Guzman — that was previewed at the LA Film Festival last night. The premiere was the official kick-off the Film Independent’s 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival hosted by the three Virgin airlines, Virgin Produced, LA Film Fest and AEG. Also in attendance at the premiere was jewelry designer and model Brittny Gastineau (below).
Departure Date will have a public showing at the festival this week before eventually being available for viewing on all Virgin flights.
