Adam Yauch, popularly known as MCA of the Beastie Boys has passed away at age 47.
In 2009, he announced he was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node. Since then, he has undergone surgery and radiation therapy.
Adam co-founded Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, Mix Master Mike, and Ad Roc.
According to TMZ, Adam became a vegan at the recommendation of his Tibetan doctors.
Yauch is survived by his wife and daughter.
